About the event
CULT Cymru are delighted to be collaborating with The GBCT in bringing this exclusive, highly reputable and bespoke film Camera training to Wales. With funding from both WULF and Creative Wales, this course is highly subsidised to those living and working in Wales only. If you are intersted in the course and do not live in Wales, please email siwan@bectu.org.uk to be put on a waiting list. We'll let you know a few days in advance if places are available.
Who is it aimed at?
The course is aimed at first and second camera assistants and experienced trainees who have not been able to work with film but who would like to.
During the course we will cover:
- Film history and theory
- Camera terminology and explanation of parts
- How to load magazines and handle film
- How to use different 16 and 35mm cameras
- How film is used and managed on set
- Information about video assist
- How to test and prepare different pieces of equipment
- Administrative aspects (e.g. ordering and managing film stock supply)
- How to prepare rushes and communicate with laboratory
- Troubleshooting
By the end of the workshop you should be ....
We want you enjoy working with film cameras for the week and come away with a clear understanding of the individual steps which go into preparing and then using a film camera package as part of a larger system. After the course, we hope that you would be able to manage a small job shooting on film, like a short film or other small project.
