Interested in joining the GBCT?

The Guild has been in existence for almost 40 years and was set up to protect the interests of the camera department workforce by maintaining quality and standards in cinematography (The care, commitment and quality of cinematography - through progress and innovation).

Membership is by invitation and open to existing and experienced technicians in the camera department.

There are 3 types of membership available:

1. Full - for professionals living in the UK, Eire and Europe

2. Overseas - for professionals living anywhere else

3. Associate - for those whose work means they are closely affiliated to the work of the GBCT. For example, 3 of our Associate Members have changed their work - they were camera department members - and now still want to remain connected with us. Another was a film stock sales manager and his work now as a media consultant means he has close dealings with us.

Other Guild Members:-

Honorary and Retired - only open to Guild Members.
Guild Trainees - Camera, DIT, Script Supervisors and Grips: given membership and its benefits whilst trainees (approx 18 months to 2 years).

There are very few rules regarding Membership and they are quite simple:
Complete an application form, add a full copy of your CV and get 4 Guild Members you have worked with regularly to provide you with a reference. Send this into the office and this is then checked before going to the Membership Committee which is made up of people from the same specialisation.

After this it goes to the Board. If at any time there are questions, we ask. Once a decision is made, the applicant is informed and invited to join. And that's it!

If you have any queries, please contact me on: admin@gbct.org.
